Ghanem Group is reviving the 135-year-old South Brisbane landmark under its original name, Hotel Terminus, as part of a four-level redevelopment due to open mid-2026.
The public vote shaped the direction. Locals backed the return of Hotel Terminus, with The Fox as runner-up and Vixen finishing third. The group has adopted all three: the restored name, the Fox Rooftop, and a new late-night bar, the Vixen Room.
On the ground floor, patrons will enter via a new Fish Lane entry into a refurbished long bar, an 18-metre atrium, a bistro serving elevated pub dishes, a gaming lounge and a bottle shop.
The first floor will house two event spaces and a full-floor private dining room. The upper floors introduce the Vixen Room – a late-night cocktail bar with DJs, live music and snacks – leading onto a reworked Fox Rooftop with city and cultural precinct views.
“We’re bringing Hotel Terminus back to South Brisbane as both a celebration of its remarkable history and a re-energised next chapter in its evolution,” said Ghanem Group Hospitality Director Adonis Ghanem.
“Most votes were to restore the original name, Hotel Terminus. However, we couldn’t ignore the goodwill associated with The Fox… Vixen came in third, which complements the connection and feel between the cocktail music bar and the Fox Rooftop on the upper two levels.”
