Recipe Variations

Spicy Jalapeño Avocado Ranch: Add half a fresh jalapeño or a spoonful of pickled jalapeños to the blender. It adds heat and a subtle smoky kick that works beautifully with tacos, burrito bowls, and grilled chicken.

Cilantro Avocado Ranch: Add a handful of fresh cilantro for a bright, herb-forward dressing that leans into Southwest and Mexican flavors.

Chipotle Avocado Ranch: Blend in a chipotle pepper in adobo sauce for smoky heat. This version is outstanding on burgers, chicken sandwiches, or roasted sweet potatoes.

Garlic Lover’s Avocado Ranch: Double the garlic and add roasted garlic for a deeper, sweeter flavor that pairs beautifully with grilled vegetables.

Creamy Taco Sauce Version: Thin the dressing slightly with extra lime juice and milk and use it as a taco drizzle for fish tacos, shrimp tacos, or chicken burrito bowls.

Collage showing how to make the recipe.

Peel the avocados, remove the seed, and slice them into smaller pieces.

Add avocado, Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning, lime juice, and lime zest to the bowl of a food processor.

Blend on low for 10-15 seconds, until smooth.

Add the apple cider vinegar, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder to the food processor bowl.

Blend on low for 15 seconds.

While the food processor is running slowly, add the olive oil through the feed tube to help emulsify the dressing. Blend for an additional 15-20 seconds once all the olive oil has been added.

For best results, refrigerate for 30 minutes before using to allow flavors to meld.

Chef Tips

Use a ripe avocado for the smoothest texture.

Fresh lime juice gives the best flavor.

Slowly add the olive oil and blend until completely smooth for a creamy dressing.

A pinch of smoked paprika adds depth.

Taste and adjust lime juice at the end; acidity changes depending on the avocado

If the dressing thickens in the fridge, whisk in a little milk before serving.

Avocado is basically nature’s mayonnaise. It gives you richness and body without needing as much oil or dairy. The trick is keeping the flavor balanced. Lime juice isn’t just for taste, it keeps the avocado bright and prevents browning.

Serving Suggestions

How to Store

Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Since avocado oxidizes, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the dressing’s surface before sealing the lid.

If the dressing thickens too much in the fridge, whisk in a splash of water and lime juice to revive the “fresh-from-the-garden” aroma.

Recipe FAQs
